Schneider Electric India hires freshers mainly as Graduate Engineer Trainees through campus drives: an online test of 30 technical questions in 30 minutes plus gamified aptitude and behavioural games, then a technical interview and an HR round. You pick an Electrical, Electronics or Software track in the test. Reported GET base pay is ₹5–8 LPA.
Who can apply
- Final-year B.E. / B.Tech students, hired mostly through campus drives (78% of Glassdoor GET interview reports came via campus recruiting)
- The online test lets you choose an Electrical, Electronics or Software track, so core and software branches sit the same drive

Questions to expect in Schneider Electric India interviews
Drawn from reported fresher tests and interviews (sources below), with short answers. Practise more on placd.
What is switchgear and what is a relay? How do they differ?
Switchgear is the whole assembly of devices that switch, isolate and protect a power circuit: circuit breakers, isolators, fuses, relays, CTs and PTs. A relay is the sensing element: it reads CT/PT signals, detects an abnormal condition such as overcurrent or earth fault, and sends a trip command. The circuit breaker, not the relay, actually interrupts the fault current.
What are the types of circuit breakers? Explain one in detail.
By arc-quenching medium: air (ACB, air-blast), oil (bulk and minimum oil), vacuum (VCB) and SF6; plus MCB / MCCB for low voltage. In a VCB the contacts part inside a vacuum bottle; the arc burns in metal vapour and dies at current zero because vacuum recovers dielectric strength very fast. VCBs are compact, low-maintenance and standard for medium voltage.
Do you know about PLC?
A PLC is a rugged industrial controller that runs a scan cycle: read all inputs, execute the user program (ladder, function block or structured text, per IEC 61131-3), update outputs, then run diagnostics and communication. It replaces hard-wired relay logic for machines and processes and is programmed and changed in software.
Explain some sustainable products related to the smart grid.
A smart grid adds sensors, two-way communication and automation to the power network so utilities and users can monitor and control flows in real time. Related products include smart meters, energy management software, microgrid controllers that integrate solar and batteries, EV chargers with load management, and SF6-free medium-voltage switchgear.
Compare the 8051 and ESP32 microcontrollers.
The 8051 is an 8-bit microcontroller; the original has 4 KB ROM, 128 bytes RAM, 32 I/O pins, two timers and one UART, usually clocked around 12 MHz, with no wireless. The ESP32 is a 32-bit chip (dual-core in most variants, up to 240 MHz) with about 520 KB SRAM and built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, ADCs and many peripherals.
Explain Ohm's law and a practical application.
At constant temperature the current through a conductor is proportional to the voltage across it: V = IR. Practical uses: cable voltage drop (10 A through a cable of 0.5 ohm loop resistance drops 5 V), and sizing a series resistor, e.g. for an LED R = (Vsupply - Vled) / I.
About Schneider Electric India hiring
What is the Schneider Electric GET salary in India?
Glassdoor shows a reported base pay of ₹5–8 LPA for Graduate Engineer Trainees, with an average of ₹7 LPA, based on 206 salaries. Additional pay is reported on top. Treat these as self-reported figures, not an official offer.
What is the Schneider Electric online test pattern?
Reported campus tests have two parts: 30 technical MCQs in 30 minutes on a track you choose (Electrical, Electronics or Software), and a gamified assessment covering verbal, numerical and logical reasoning, situational judgement and personality.
What does Schneider Electric ask electrical freshers in the interview?
Interviews start with your projects. Electrical candidates report questions on switchgear vs relay, circuit breaker types, renewable energy, smart-grid products and PLCs; electronics candidates get 8051 / ESP32, digital and analog circuit questions. The HR round checks relocation and travel willingness.
