Short answer: there is no single best placement preparation website in India, because a campus drive is four or five different tests stacked together. The best setup for most engineering students is two or three sites, one per job: an aptitude bank, a coding practice site, and one place that ties your branch, your target companies and interview practice together.
A note before you read on: placd wrote this, and placd is one of the sites compared below. We have tried to be fair. Every fact about another site was checked on that site's own pages in September 2026, we do not repeat any site's self-reported student or salary numbers, and we say plainly where other sites are stronger than ours.

How we compared them
Five questions, the same for every site. What does it cover (aptitude, coding, CS subjects, core branches, government exams)? Does it help with interviews, not just written tests? Does it run your code? What is free and what is paid? And who is it clearly built for? A site can be excellent and still be the wrong pick for your branch, so the verdicts below are about fit, not a single ranking.
PrepInsta
Best for: IT service company test patterns. PrepInsta is built around Indian campus drives at TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, Cognizant and Capgemini, with aptitude, coding and interview-experience pages for each. Much of it is free to read; the full mock tests and courses sit in its paid PrepInsta Prime plan. If your target is a mass recruiter, it is one of the most direct resources available.
IndiaBix
Best for: free aptitude practice. IndiaBix has a large free bank of quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning and verbal ability questions with worked explanations, plus engineering MCQ sections for branches such as mechanical, civil, EEE and ECE, and placement papers. It is a practice bank rather than a guided plan, so pair it with something that tells you what to do next.
GeeksforGeeks
Best for: CS subjects and interview experiences. GeeksforGeeks has free articles on DSA, operating systems, DBMS, computer networks and OOP, and a very large archive of interview experiences written by students. Its paid Placement 360 course bundles the placement material into one programme. For a CSE or IT student it is close to a default reference.
LeetCode
Best for: timed coding practice at scale. LeetCode is the global standard for coding-interview problems and weekly contests, with a free problem set and a paid Premium tier. It is excellent for product-company coding rounds and does not try to cover aptitude, HR rounds or core engineering.
takeUforward (Striver)
Best for: a free, structured DSA plan. Striver's A2Z DSA sheet and SDE sheet give you an ordered list of problems with explanations, free. The paid TUF+ plans add more material. If you keep starting DSA and losing the thread, a sheet like this solves the what-next problem.
InterviewBit
Best for: a free, curated coding interview track. InterviewBit, run by Scaler, offers a guided set of coding interview problems for free. Like LeetCode, it is coding-first.
FACE Prep
Best for: structured placement training, often through your college. FACE Prep runs company-specific training for TCS NQT, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, Cognizant, Capgemini and more, free company guides, and paid programmes, and partners with colleges for campus training. If your college already works with them, start there.
PlacementPreparation.io
Best for: free placement papers and company-wise practice. Its own FAQ says the platform is free to use with no subscription. Good for practising the written tests of mass recruiters.
Examveda and Sanfoundry
Best for: free core-engineering MCQs. Both have large free multiple-choice banks across mechanical, civil, electrical, ECE and other branches. They are useful for drilling subjects; neither covers company hiring processes or interviews.
UpcomingEngineer
Best for: finding internships and entry-level jobs by branch. UpcomingEngineer describes itself as a career platform for engineering students of every branch, core branches included. It lists internships and entry-level jobs you can filter by branch and city, and offers a free ATS resume analyzer, a LinkedIn profile optimiser and AI mock interview practice (marked beta). It says it is free for students. It has blog articles on GATE and ESE preparation, but we did not find GATE question practice or mock tests on it.
MADE EASY
Best for: paid GATE, ESE and PSU coaching. MADE EASY runs GATE and ESE courses, a PSU selection programme and an interview guidance programme with group discussions and mock interviews. It is coaching, not a free practice site, and it is strongest when a PSU route through GATE or ESE is your main goal.
placd (placd.in)
Best for: one place that covers software, core engineering and government exams, with an AI mock interview. placd is the newest site on this list, built for Indian engineering students. What it does:
- 24,000+ interview questions and coding problems: DSA, CS fundamentals, aptitude, system design, low-level design, full-stack and infra tracks for software roles, and three question banks each for mechanical, civil, electrical, ECE and chemical.
- A code judge on the practice problems that runs your code against real test cases: Python on every problem, C++ and Java on most.
- An AI mock interview for the role and level you pick: intro, technical and behavioral rounds, and for software roles a coding round where your Python is run against test cases, ending in a graded scorecard. You can type or speak your answers. One full mock interview is free when you sign up and confirm your email.
- Company pages that explain how IT, core and PSU companies hire freshers (rounds, eligibility, pay), with the sources listed and the date each was checked, at placd.in/companies.
- Government exam pages for GATE, ESE, SSC JE, RRB JE, ISRO, IBPS SO IT and UGC NET CS, with a free 25-question sample for most of them (RRB JE does not have one yet), at placd.in/government.
Free with an account: a 100-question sample path, a 2-minute readiness check and the first mock interview. Paid: a Monthly Placement Pass (₹199 for 30 days, including 1 more mock interview) or an Annual Placement Pass (₹1,499 for a year, including 10). Both are one-time payments that do not auto-renew.
Where placd is weaker: it is new, so it does not have GeeksforGeeks' archive of student interview experiences or LeetCode's contest community, and its mock interview's coding round is Python only. If you only need one of those things, a specialist site will serve you better.
Which combination should you use?
- CSE/IT, targeting service companies: IndiaBix (aptitude) + PrepInsta or PlacementPreparation.io (company patterns) + one mock interview before the drive.
- CSE/IT, targeting product companies: takeUforward or LeetCode (DSA) + GeeksforGeeks (CS subjects) + mock interviews with real code execution.
- Mechanical, civil, electrical, ECE or chemical, targeting core companies: placd for your branch's question banks and each company's hiring process at placd.in/engineering/mechanical (or your branch), + IndiaBix for aptitude.
- Core branch, targeting PSUs: first find out whether the PSU you want uses GATE or its own exam (many now run their own), at placd.in/engineering/mechanical/psu-through-gate; then GATE practice on placd or with MADE EASY coaching.
